I’m having a heck of a time right now. Seemingly failing at life big time. REALLY, REALLY, struggling. I had part time work up until the end of December. I was “getting by” with that. But right before Christmas, my ex-wife said I couldn’t get the kids any more. Again. Part of it is with my ‘just getting by’ I wasn’t paying child support. So all of the money I had in the bank for some food, gas, phone, and car insurance suddenly disappeared because somehow the Child Support Enforcement agency can take money from my account, and the bank charges $100 for this “service”. Now I have a negative balance, and about $15 in my pocket with no income on the horizon. My car tags need to be renewed by the end of the month. I’m due for an insurance payment. You get the idea? I’m on the short-list for one job, but nothing guaranteed, obviously.
So I’m struggling. I just read this: http://www.ccesonline.com/castyourcaresonhim.htm. It was somewhat helpful. One article summed it up well, Small problems, big God. I like the sound of that! I also read an entry regarding casting my cares on God in Our Daily Bread which is very good. Nice an concise.
So I’m focusing on my bright spots. I stay with a friend, so when it comes down to it, my food and shelter are free. That is SO great. I also have a fantastic girlfriend. She is also having her own financial struggles, but she has income coming in, so it’s not nearly as bad. We are able to help each other to deal with struggles in this season of our lives.
Just trying to live free in Christ… against all odds it seems at times.

Great post dude! It is when times get tough that we really see what we’re made of and you have shown a ton of character. I too have been through hard times and I’m sure that I will go through them again, but it is great to know that we have an all powerful God to put our trust into. I pity those of the mind that refuse to believe. What a sad and lonely world they must live in. I guess it’s true what the bible says, “only a fool in his heart says there is no God.”
